Hi gang,
I've been reading all about the Mills College CD and
Neil Haverstick, who by the way started me on my
microtonal journey several years ago--quite an
inspiration! I don't know if everyone knows this, but
last year I released a 2-CD opera on Naxos Records,
From The Realm Of The Shadow (see
www.fromtherealmoftheshadow.com for info). Most of it
is either traditional classical or ethnic in style,
but there is one track on CD II in 19-eq temperament,
featuring tympanist/percussionist Bill Hill of the
Colorado Symphony, Johnny Reinhard and a few members
of his New York Festival of Microtonal Music, synths,
and some Balinese "monkey-chanters" including yours
truly. It's a tragic opera but this movement is
ecstasy, a musical portrayal of a violently repressed
aspect of the psyche breaking free. Enjoy!
Chris Mohr
