I just noticed that the last sentence of my message to Paul had a weird sort of
corporate flavor to it, with it's "We" and its "open to suggestions," and so on. It's
genuine, though - we really *are* always, not just open to but *looking for*, new
music.

Also:
Last July I dropped right in the middle several dialogues here on the Tuning List
concerning my essay to Perspectives of New Music. Most of you have probably
forgotten or tired of those discussions, but I will have a nagging sense of
negligence if I do not at least offer to follow up, since I wrote the article and it
caused such intense reactions. It also interests me (it's not just out of a sense of
negligence).

Paul, Margo, Kyle, David Doty and others had submitted detailed, heartfelt,
well-considered comments and criticisms. If anyone is interested to resume these
where we left off, I'll be checking in on the Tuning List for a couple more days.
(Paul's last message was particularly intense.)

OK then. I've looked over your messages 38555 and 38622. It seems strange, since
so much time has gone by, to get all mixed up in these issues again. But it does feel
like unfinshed business, especially since your reactions were so heated. So, here we
go.
