Cris Forster, who designs and builds beautifully crafted acoustic
instruments tuned to 13-limit JI has put pictures, theory, etc. on the
web at www.Chrysalis-Foundation.org. Take a look.

On the other hand he is a much better builder than Partch. The best one i know.
Rivaled maybe by some cats in Grasse, France.

Hey Kraig, I know the Grasse guys. Did you meet with them or hear
recordings? Quite wild what they did. The main builder Goa Allora spoke
little French, mainly Nicoise, the old langue doc. But the music was
stubbornly in 12tET, almost to prove that these gargantuan instruments could
still be managed in conventional tuning.

Also, I believe Chris Forster has felt subdued by the Partch connection and
is really interested in his own voice.

best, Johnny Reinhard

The funny thing Johnny is I met them because when i went to France you had given me their contact info. Yes it was a shame they were stuck in 12 ET. Hank Badings i also saw that trip[ on your recommendation. He had one of the best ears of any composer i met. ONe the first hearing while talking to me about other things , he would say Oh the counterpoint is at the inversion starting on the upbeat, like in some
Balinese music. He went though the whole piece this way catching the entire structure the first time through. i liked the man, and his deer roaming in his front yard. Thanks for allowing this to happen albeit in 1988
