Greetings - it is with great pleasure that I announce the program for our
Columbus Day concert (Oct. 11th) at the New York Society for Ethical Culture
(2 West 64th St.) at 8 p.m. Conductor Paolo Bellomia of Ottawa will do the
honors.

The program features the premiere of PSALM 51 for soprano and orchestra by
Mordecai Sandberg. It is a polymicrotonal work written in NYC in 1944. The
AFMM performed only the latter part in 1987. Dutch soprano Dorien Verheijden
from Arnhem will be the upcoming soloist, singing in Hebrew.

Charles Ives will be heard in 3 short large ensemble works: THE INDIANS, LIKE
A SICK EAGLE & PREMONITION. The AFMM hopes to make Columbus Day a regular
Discovery Day for audiences to explore new worlds of sound at AFMM
performances.

Alyssa Ryvers of Toronto introduces HOLOGRAM for orchestra and Luc March
displays MODEL 312. Electric JI guitariist Jon Catler unleashes EVOLUTION
for electric guitar, voices, and orchestra. The final work on the program is
MIDDLE-EARTH, my Tolkien-inspired symphonic traipse through Hobbitt lands,
Dwarves, Mordor, and High Elves.

The hall is choice for NYC, resonant for a small orchestra, right outside
Lincoln Center, and with a 750 seating capacity.

Should we hold another Microthon in 2000? The last one was a blast!
