IIRC, the 500Hz to 2Khz range is the most sensitive for the human ear.
1-4KHz is often quoted as the range in which the most interesting music is
written (I don't mean fundamentals, but in terms of timbre)

Anyway, the point I s originally trying to make was that we can divide the
conceptual space of pitch into any number of divisions, but the perceptual
space doesn't map on to it 1:1.
