John R. Pierce

I saw in our local paper that John R. Pierce died last week. He was 92
and the co-inventor with Max Mathews of computer music (sound generation
compilers). He also invented the Telstar communication satellite and
wrote SF under the name of J.J. Coupling. Quite remarkable life, to say
the least.
