hello all,

thanks to the prompting i got from Gene's post, i've
made a massive new update to the HEWM definition,
which lays everything out clearly.

(response to Gene coming right after this.)

and along with that goes this fascinating diversion:

German musical nomenclature
http://www.ixpres.com/interval/dict/german-h.htm

did you ever wonder why Germans use the letter "H" in music?
... as in the famous musical motifs Bach composed which
spelled his name?

well now you know. :)

and now also, another deeper explanation of a digression
in the HEWM page:

"tempering out the syntonic comma"
http://www.ixpres.com/interval/dict/no-syncom.htm

in which i illustrate on lattices a few of the different
types of JI "chromatic" and "diatonic semitone" pairs,
and how they are a l l implied simultaneously by
tunings in which the syntonic comma vanishes.
