W. Carlos' Tales of Heaven and Hell

I got a rude awakening this weekend when I discovered that Wendy Carlos
has another CD out that I was not aware of: "Tales of Heaven and Hell," I
believe was the title. Obviously I've had my head a bit too buried in work
and in my saxophonics. When did it come out? The copyright date is 1998.

Having only listened to it once, I'm certainly not going to give
anything even close to a review of it, but I'll mention that some of the
first few cuts have a bit of a old-timey horror flick kind of feel to them
in their use of an instrument called a "circon", which gives a feel kind of
like a Theremin. I'll also mention that I, personally, find the later
tracks more musically inspired than the earlier ones.

By the way, she also did a CD release of Sonic Seasonings with some
previously-unreleased material.

Some time in mid-October last year.

I especially like the one that uses 15-tet.

Her Clockwork Orange score was rereleased around the same time, also with
previously unreleased material, and all 3 CDs contain a copy of her web
site as it was at the time.

What's the word on "Beauty in the Beast"? This was supposed to be
re-released years ago, and I'm itching for a copy . . .
