Hello
With another question.

I know that the intervals of the slendro and pelog
scales can vary considerably from ensemble to
ensemble, but could someone help me with a clear
definition of the notes of these two scales, as
compares to the 12TET or by cents? As it is I only
really know their approximations. Again, I don't have
that large a linguistic or formal background in
microtonal study.

Sorry, I assume this has been covered before.

Thanks
Nathaniel Braddock

There are many, many variations, including those with "stretched"
and "compressed" octaves, but . . .

Slendros are quite similar to 5-tET:

0 240 480 720 960 1200

and pelogs to modes of this pentatonic

0 154 308 677 831 1200

with the full 7-note pelog systems going like this:

0 154 308 462 677 831 1200

You should consider there to be a +/- 20 or 25 cent band of variation
around each of the "fourths" and "fifths" in both Slendro and Pelog --
variations with depend on pitch register, region, and maker.

Cheers Nathaniel!
