The cool stuff! Thanks much!

A 'personal' cautionary anecdote, if you'll indulge me.

I was at the Renaissance Pleasure Faire in No. Cal. when I spied a booth full of lovely basketry and textiles and several musical instruments including some African xylophones--also extremely attractive. I approached and proceeded to plunk around on one of the xylos to check out the scales. It seemed quite authentic. The vendor, in a very warm and kind way, came over and said in a pretty heavy accent words to the effect, "Yeah, I've seen you guys around, you 'scale' tweakers...let me show you something", as he gently confiscated the mallets.

He said, "It's not a Scale, it's a Language!"

Then he said something in a beautiful sort of dramatic (ritualistic) way in his mother tongue, and paused just long enough for the effect before he _played_ the exact same 'oratory' on the instrument, much to my stunned and amazed delight. Words/let them fly from my lips/ just like birds...something like that.

It was the sweetest lesson in 'multiculturalism'--and humility. Someday maybe I'll actually learn it!

Mind the spirits, anyway

Happy Tunings,

Pete
