Ben Hume is at 212-831-9048 and he can tell what the exact ratios for the
Sumerian aulos turned out to me (in just minor).

Re: Joe Monzo and his comments re the inheritance of the Sumerian culture by
the northerners, I must disagree.

The ethnic stock of the Sumerians would relinquish its musical intervals
least, much as African slaves held on to the "blues" intonation after losing
their languages. Yes, mathematics and other cultural features were absorbed
by Akkadian culture. However, it is pure speculation that the tuning for the
Babylonians was the same as their precursors of a different ethnic stock.
Since spoken language has been such a poor indicator of ethnic stock, I would
be quite cautious about making more than a speculation about Sumerian tuning
based on the later texts that were uncovered.
