Pat:
The Korg is one of those 1/2 rack, 1 space units.

The main difference with it and the TX is sounds -
the Korg is samples that you then filter and combine.
The TX is straight FM - no effects. Therefore, the
Korg works great with percussion and some other
quasi-instrument sounds, where the TX is unbeatable
is plucked-string, clavichord type sounds.

David is right on the channel side: more polyphony
with the Korg and it's all pannable stereo, etc. The
TX is quite limited in that respect.

I don't agree that the TX is 1.65 cents off anything. It's
just that the hex tuning table has that as a step, so one
could run into problems (I never have).

Another strong point of the TX is the scale possibilities;
I mentioned before the 12-only configuration of the Korg,
where you're stuick with taking the 12 regularly-placed
tempered notes and moving them each in a +/- 99 cent
range. With the Yamahas, you're pretty much free to
cram all 128 pitches anyplace you want, in whatever
clumps on the keyboard you wish. Good for all us
hardcore Morton Feldman-ites who are hooked
on register.

p.s. see you guys tonite up at Columbia
