Hi Mats

I'll try to give this a spin. I was looking through MOS recently and
noticed how 'rich' 17 is in having lots of MOS good for "semi
tonal" music (meaning having modes with perfect fifths available).
The perfect fifth in 17 is 10 steps and all the following MOS
(7, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12 tones) have a perfect fifth in at least
one mode.

This list is not comprehensive, but includes structures I've found
interesting.

LLsLLLs L=3 s=1 (7.2 = seven pitches, two chunks)
LssLsLs L=3 s=2 (7.3)
ssLssLsL L=4 s=1 (8.3)
sLsLsLsLs L=2 s=1 (9.4)
LLsLLsLLLs L=2 s=1 (10.3)
sssLsssLssL L=3 s=1 (11.3)
ssLsLssLsLsL L=2 s=1 (12.5, basic chromatic scale)

Going to 34 fills in some of the blanks.

ssLssLssLsL L=5 s=2 (11.4)
LLsLsLLsLsLLs L=3 s=2 (13.5)

I'd love to find another psuedo-pythagorean tuning that had this kind
of richness, but also has 'high quality' 5 and 7 limit intervals.

Any suggestions?

It's interesting; it reminded me more of Hovhaness' "Mysterious Mountain" than a dragon. Is the theme Armenian?

Hi Mats & Bob!

I saw this when I first came on board the Tuning List and listened to
the file. I recently came back to listen to it again and found it
isn't there anymore. Could you put the file back again, if just
temporarily?

I find this message interesting in light of some things I have
explored in 17 over the years, including MOS scales, and was
wondering if you saw Robert Wendell's question to me (#32581) and my
answer (#32687), which mentioned a couple of MOS scales in 17, one of
which uses the same generating interval (I actually specified the
octave complement, or 11deg17) as Fafner, but is conceived in a way
that is harmonically different.
