As it happens, Sharokh Yadegari is giving a concert of electronic Persian music
at CRCA (UCSD) December 1st at 8 PM. Anybody interested should go and ask him
about traditional Persian music.

Some of you will remember him and his music from MicroFest 2001 last May in
Pomona, CA.

Some Persian music I've heard sounded rather like 24-tet, as if it used a
diatonic scale with neutral thirds, 6ths, and 7ths like 0 200 350 500 700 850
1050 1200 or some mode thereof. However, I've read elsewhere that the radif (?)
scale is more like a pythagorean with commatic inflections.. Maybe Joe Monzo and
I can find out from Sharokh.

Replace 350 and 850 with 335 and 835, and you're much closer to an
authentic Persian scale.
