Barstow on replica instruments

There will be a performance of Barstow in New York, for the AFMM on May
23. I believe its in the physics hall of NYU, but you should check for
more detailed info from Johnny Reinhard. While it won't use original
instruments it will use replicas of them. The chromelodeon part will be
played on a version I built from two accordions (although it only has one
reed bank at present, it does have the same range) by Garnet Willis. The
adapted guitar will be played on an electric guitar, with 3 courses and
the specified frets. The Kithara will be played by Skip Laplante on a
travelling version of the instrument he built, and Johnny R. will handle
the intoning voice. Hope this adds to the continuing Barstow debate.

To all!
Wanted to say how much we enjoyed the performances by CRITICAL BAND
and also Wim Hoogewerf. You're in for a treat in New York. Good luck on
the Partch! From what I heard briefly at Schneiders house, the original
Barstow was there!

They didn't do Barstow here and J.S. had a show of his own. I just heard a

If anyone wants to do a play by play of this Southern Ca. Microfest,
I'll upload it to Juxtaposition Ezine. I haven't done to much with
the site recently because of y2k obligations, but if you're a
microtonalist rest assured - you will get reviewed.
