What's wrong with linear programming (or least squares, for that
matter?)

Least squares is easy. But Dave is looking for a way to find the
minimax solution. No one said anything is wrong with linear
programming. I was just wondering if Dave was totally on the wrong
track, or if his method can be patched up.
