Just to keep the record straight - I never said 'dissonance
must be added', I just said that in classical music, that
dissonant rationalization of the 'dominant 7th' chord is
entirely appropriate.

I agree with you that it is not *necessary*, and also agree
that in many circumstances, the very flat 7th of 4:5:6:7
resolving to a 5/3 in a 4/3 : 5/3 : 1:1 chord provides a nice
melodic resolution.
