Hi Folks

Does anyone know of any literature or web resources with plans for
building harmonic canon or santoor type instruments? The designs I have
are for up to no more than 6-8 courses of strings and I'd like to put
something together with at least 30 or so. I can't seem to locate any
newsgroups that share this kind of information. Thanks in anticipation.

Best wishes.

Hey Alison,

Geez, I don't think I can get in too much trouble with this one!

Partch's book "Genesis of a Music" actually has quite a bit of detail
in the descriptions of his canons (well, most all of his
instruments), including many of the dimensions of the sound boxes,
number and tuning of strings, etc. While not schematics for building
per se, they have been clear enough for at least two people who built
similar instruments:

I'm sure there are many more out there, as well, but maybe this would
be one starting point...

HTH,
Jon

Yes, since I posted I've gone over the relevant sections in 'Genesis' and thay are pretty clear.
Corporeal Meadows is such a lovely place for a stroll. Thanks for the links (and for keeping out
of trouble - good lad).

Best Wishes
