I certainly agree with Jon Szanto [TD 175.19] about the
multi-media-bility of webpages being a big bonus over plain
text.

In discussing tuning theory, it's essential to be able to
listen to what's being discussed. This in the end is
probably why serial theory developed (mostly, not completely)
into a musical dead-end: because the complex theories were
published in *print only*, and precious few people actually
got to hear the pieces resulting from the theories.

(Of course, there's the old saying that if radio stations
would just play Webern every day, his records would sell...
conservative and greedy radio programming certainly must take
a large part of the blame.)

His point about the art of crafting a website carefully
is well taken.
