Hi Haresh,

I wonder how you are getting on with the project?

My fractal tune smithy program should be able to cope
with sliding pitch glissandi for notes, as well as retuning
them to the correct piches (and I'd welcome
some clips to retune to try that out on actually).

If you make standard .midi files I can retune
the notes as you like, including shifting all
the pitch bending of the notes up and down
accordingly. E.g. so C = 1/1, E = 5/4.

In fact, you can do any mapping of the notes,
so if you have close together pitches, just
record them as separate midi notes and say what
you want them retuned to.

I'd also be able to make retuned midi files
for them too, which you could use.

I plan a bit more work on that section of the
program soon. However, should already be
up to doing this.

Robert

Hello Robert, I am extremely sorry for the inordinate delay on my
part: I have been waiting, and waiting, and waiting ....... for a
software which gives us direct MIDI files in Indian instruments
(sitar, sarod, tabla, ....). Well, I am still waiting! I do wish I
had reported this to you earlier.

So, I will play the raga-s, one at a time, starting with Kalingada
(closest to Veena's sample) and send them to you -- How? I will
appreciate your help here. Also, tabla is not available as MIDI
output (though Sitar is, as you have already mentioned previously).

Regards,
Haresh

That's all right!

Perhaps I can find a tabla sound font for the SBLIve somewhere?
E.g. they have an Asia CD of soundfonts which will surely
have one, or maybe I can find one as a free sample.

With SB live you can load any "soundfont" into computer memory,
and assign it to any of the midi instruments, or you can make your own
ones too.

If you can send a midi file, that's fine.

Or we could work something else out if nec.
