"Below the Floater"uses the 9-tone MOS mode from 20-TET(3/2 steps,LLLLsLLLs)discovered and described independently by Gerald Balzano,Paul Zweifel and Dan Stearns,i think.

The tune is based on the 5-note chord described by Dan Stearns,however the 9-tone MOS of the 11/20 generator only include one such pentad,plus one utonal version.This composition keeps strictly to the notes of the 9-tone scale,that is,no transpositions or chromatic alterations at all.Which is unusual,but it turned out to be suitable for this time.
