New treatments of Gershwin

I've done up some new 7-limit tunings of Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue"
(2-hand piano reduction, supposedly his own), as sequenced by Gary D.
Lloyd, using melodic springs in various ways. On the wild side,
rh-n-blucs7nm.mid pushes melodic steps farther apart, as suggested by
Robert Walker. More tame, rh-n-blucs7m.mid pulls melodic steps
together for a more smooth, even sound. Since vertical intervals tend
to get a bit far from just, I've also included rh-n-blucrs7m.mid, with
tighter vertical springs (7.7 cents RMS deviation -> 5.8 cents, a big
improvement to my ear!). A version with negligible melodic springs,
rh-n-blucs7.mid, completes the set. Oh, and 12-tET, as originally
sequenced, for comparison.

Of course 7-limit tuning is a potentially controversial and possibly
extreme treatment for this piece. It is at the very least a wonderful
challenge from a melodic vs. harmonic standpoint.

I've posted General MIDI versions in

Change to Studio J, and download rh-n-blum.zip. Note: this is 500K

Enjoy!
