Bach never endorsed the equal-tempered piano. Instead he endorsed a
temperament that allowed all keys to be played equally in terms of their
possibility. They were not identical, however.

He didn't. This is a common myth about tuning -- another one is that Pythagoras
endorsed _all_ simple ratios, including those involving the number 5.
