From my point of view, this depends upon what one means by "special." I
personally found the convenience of enabling a notational system I was
already comfortable with (72), to readily accommodate/approximate tuning
systems I was using frequently - 13 & 20-tET for instance - quite useful.

Dan, I was making a specific quantitative point to Joe, which says nothing
to contradict your statement.
