This may be true on the psychological level, but at the purely physical
level it is clear that the primary colors would be defined by your first
statement:

>L, M and S (for long- middle- and short wavelength sensitivity. The peaks
>are aprx. at 580, 540 and 440 nm.

. . . which is what you need to know if you're designing a monitor or a set
of printing inks.
