News: Upcoming Events (Centennial Edition)

Hello tuning people! (exclamation point on loan from Kraig Grady)
I apologize in advance to those of you on the Meadows update list,
as well as those who have gotten info from Bill Alves. I thought
the following would be worth it for the general readership:

*****

Yep, June 24, 2001 Harry Partch would have been 100 years old. Some
people like to celebrate these kind of dates, others don't. Nonethe-
less, it serves as a great excuse for gatherings, of which we are
informing you.

This weekend is the yearly microtonal bash in Southern California
known as MicroFest; however, it has grown to include concerts on
other weekends as well. This weekend is the conference, featuring
the wonderful Lou Harrison, and the first night concert is an all-
Partch program by John Schneider and his group, Just Strings.

On May 26th, the *big* Partch event will occur with a Centennial
Celebration at UCLA. The Meadows will have a contingent of people
in attendance (look for grass stains).

All of this, and some few minor updates, are contained on the main
page of Corporeal Meadows. I'll get more detailed about May 26 as
the date approaches, but for now, read up and make your plans...

Corporeally,
Jon
