7/5 in Indian raga-s

Hi Jacky, I am trying to answer your question about the occurrence of
7/5. First of all, let me say that the musical ratios do not produce
any tone in my mind. They are, as yet, mathematical entities to be
respected, but do not "ring" in my ears. So also, cents. I hope
they will soon start to take on musical sense and occupy my mind as
musical entities (as they should).

In the mean time, drawing from Paul Erlich, Pierre Lamothe, and
Donald A. Lentz, I get the following ratios for the 22-shruti system:

256/243
16/15
10/9
9/8
32/27
6/5
5/4
81/64
4/3
27/20
45/32
729/512 [Or 64/45?]
3/2
128/81
8/5
5/3
27/16
16/9
9/5
15/8
243/128
2/1

The above table seems to confirm my intuition: No, 7/5 does NOT occur
in the raga-s. Please check my inference for its logic and
completeness, and applicability.

Regards,
Haresh.

Haresh!
Some of these individuals got it from page three of this document, which coincided with Amiya
Dasgupta's sources and opinion (as to the original 22)
http://www.anaphoria.com/trans22.PDF
Also you might like to look at
http://www.anaphoria.com/Muchana1.PDF
where the shutis are explained as the common ton modulations of a single scale.
Pardon the quality
