non-traditional instruments

Well, in my own "defense..." [What! No one's attacking?? Too bad...
I'll do the "defense" anyway... :) ]

I HAVE written some pieces for "non-traditional" instruments, the
"toy piano" and the Theremin.

In the case of the toy piano, I wouldn't have thought for a moment of
writing for it if I couldn't PLAY every note. And it only has a
couple of octaves... so that's a somewhat limited accomplishment...

AND, in the case of the Theremin, I heard NONE of it while I was
composing. An obvious testimonial to my attempt at writing
"abstract" music without the "crutch" of a physical instrument??

Ummm. No. I just didn't have a Theremin. I would have loved to have
composed using it if I had it. It's surprising the piece came off
pretty well in this case anyway...
