There are a few Canadian composers working in microtones. Bruce Mathers,
James Tenney, Paul Rappoport, John Sherlock, Garnet Willis, Gayle Young,
Marc Sabat and myself, for example. Most of these are based in Ontario, I
don't know of many Quebecois microtonalists.

Please include for Montreal the following Quebecers: Louis Babin
(quartertones), and Luc Marcel (sound spectrum 'ala varese, with quartertone
indications). There are others, I'm sure.

Thanks for replying!

I would like to know where those composers are teaching (if they are teaching
at all!). I'll discuss of them (and you :-) with my teacher to know if he's
knowing you. I already know Bruce Mathers... he's teaching at McGill
university in Montreal. What about the others?

Thanks again!

Thanks for all those who answered to my question... I'm sure I'll find some
someday... :-)
For I'm seeking a teacher for my master in two years, and I want him (or her :-)
to be a JI's addicted :-) (as I am). If I must go study to USA I'll do it...
but it costs that much that if I can go to Montreal... I would prefer... it
would cost me 2000$ Can per year insead of I don't know how much it is for
canadian students in USA...

It can be in an other province of canada teacher. If anyone out there (X-files
;-) tell me.

Thanks again.

Ah, they don't teach at the university level, but perhaps with John Winiarz
who is a professor at Concordia in Montreal. JW has composed in quartertones,
36ET, mass sounds, etc. Perhaps you'd be a breath of fresh air to him. And
him to you!
