You might want to try out scales based on the basic tetrachord of Qutb
al-Din al-Shiriz (1236-1311 C.E.), a student of Safi al-Din, a chromatic
(with C.I. of 7/6 and an unequal division of the _pyknon_, on the border
with the diatonic) tetrachord of the genus _bijazi_.
The original form

1/1 12/11 14/11 4/3

has metamorphised through many approximations by both pythagorean cycles
and equal divisions of both the fourth and octave, but remains the basic
tetrachord of both theory and practice in the Islamicate world.

You will also enjoy trying the rotations of the tetrachord:

1/1 12/11 8/7 4/3
1/1 7/6 14/11 4/3
1/1 7/6 11/9 4/3
1/1 22/21 8/7 4/3
1/1 22/21 11/9 4/3

Thanks Mr. Wolf
That's closer to what I was looking for.
I'm very interested in how the 14/11 will sound out in a melodic phrase
thanks again

Pat!
You might want to look at La Musique Arabe by Erlanger. 6 volumes
of which has a collection of historical theoretical work with an array
to developing tetrachords. Of course there are those who prefer 24ET.

Interestingly, all the intervals of this tetrachord
appear, but displaced by one degree, in Ptolemy's
Syntonic Chromatic genus from 1000 years earlier.

If we transpose Ptolemy's Mese to 14/11, and
tabulate the conjunct Synemmenon and Meson
tetrachords of his scale, it is easy to
see Qutb's ratios in there, with Qutb's
tetrachord boundaries displaced upward by
one step:

Nete Synemmenon 56:33 \
Paranete Synemmenon 16:11 \
Trite Synemmenon 4:3 /
MESE 14:11 X
Lichanos Meson 12:11 \
Parhypate Meson 1:1 /
Hypate Meson (21:11) /

I recognized this right away because of my
familiarity with the lattice patterns in
Ptolemy's system.

Using Ptolemy's actual (non-transposed) ratios:

33:28
/ |
/ |
/ |
11:7 |
/ | | 9:7--------------9:8
/ | | / /
/ | | / /
22:21 | |/ /
| | 12:7---------------3:2
| | / /
| | / /
| |/ /
| 8:7---------------1:1
| / /
| / /
|/ /
32:21-------------4:3

This is the lattice of Qutb's tetrachord:

1:1

4:3 |
| 12:11

( )---------------14:11
