Hey J...thanks for the nice mention in relation to Frisell..."Power
Tools" is my favorite album of his...he rarely plays like that anymore.
And, your comments about Dan, and how he will jump into a tuning without
regard for how it looks on paper, were very interesting to me...my first
reaction was, how could anyone get a feel for a scale, or any sound
related concept, on paper? How could one dislike a scale, or any musical
phenomenon, by looking at equations? When one hears what Dan can do with
the materials he works with, I think it's a good case for saying, as
Ellington did about music in general, that there's no good or bad
tunings, only good/bad music...Hstick
