I went to MP3.com

http://genres.mp3.com/music/genres.html

and did not find microtuning listed as
a genre.

Should it be?

PS note that MP3.com now pays the artist
for their music. See top earners:

I think that a genre, in music, must indicate a whole set of stylistic preferences, which microtuning is included in. So I think that microtuning itself is not a genre. Consider the "Rock" genre. Microtonal rock is possible in addition to 12tet rock; the microtuning only changes a specific part of the whole.

I absolutely agree, though it is often convenient to ignore that and
treat it as though it were one all the same...

BTW, Peter himself makes some very fine microtonal rock -- check it
out!
