microtones in "Drum & Bass" music

I've just come back from my "Farewell to Philly" party:
a couple of much younger female friends took me out to a
slammin' club called "Fluid" (at 4th and South).

I'm here to report that microtonal tunings are alive and well
(and thriving) in the world of "Drum & Bass" music.

I'm pushing 40 and haven't kept up much with recent developments
in pop music, so I really don't know much about "Drum & Bass".
It seems to me to be an offshoot of Techno.

Anyway, thru the incredibly loud din I heard a lot of stuff
that sounded xenharmonic, mixed in with a healthy dose of
pure "noise music". Perhaps some of the younger list members
can say more about it.

It may seem from the above that I didn't enjoy myself...
far from it! After the inital acclimation period, where
I really thought to myself "this is definitely *not* my
groove", I loosened up and danced a lot, broke out in a
serious sweat, and really had a great time.

... Now I'm praying that the impending blizzard that will
reach Philadelphia on Friday night won't leave me stranded
here, because I'm ready to return to the warm California sun...
