I got mine a couple of weeks ago in the New Age bin of HMV (there was a
Wendy Carlos section in the Classical bin, but it was empty, as always)!

Curiously enough, when I went to look for a copy of BIB in the HMV
"classical" section, I could not find it.

They directed me to "jazz."

After inquiring there, I was ushered to the busy center of the store,
the "New Age" section.

That is where I found it.

I suppose it sells more copies being in a more commercial "New Age"
section?? But is New Age really selling these days?? And surely BIB
doesn't really belong there??

It should be in her classical bin with Switched on Bach.
Even her Sonic Seasonings is better than New Age, but if I
found it in New Age - I'd understand.

Me too -- see my post of a few weeks ago.

Although most stores only have one Wendy Carlos section -- under New Age -- the store
where I found BIB also had an empty Wendy Carlos section under Classical. If they don't put
BIB there, what _would_ they put there? (Switched-On Bach was under Bach.)

Ummm. When I went in HMV, even the MARKER for the Wendy Carlos
section in classical had been removed (the store on Fifth Ave.) There
was no "Carlos" marker at all! But does Wendy Carlos REALLY sound
like "new age...??" I'm not so knowledgeable about New Age, so I
don't know (??)

New Age is a grab bag of different styles, but some of it shares with
_Beauty in the Beast_ the quality of being inspired by musical traditions
from around the world. I can't think of any specific New Age music that
sounds anything like BitB, but it's been a while since I listened to New
Age music often. BitB might almost fit better in the Jazz section, but it
doesn't easily fit into any of the established categories.
