[Morrison:]
> Presumably, with a name like Vyshnegradski, it's not
> likely that he's German, but for whatever it's worth,
> Germans use "B" for what Americans call "Bb".

Good point.

It doesn't apply here - Wyshnegradski was born in Russia,
lived in Paris, wrote his book in French (which calls
Bb "si bemol" with an accent), and I was referring to
Darreg's English translation. It was just an oversight,
and it's the only factual error I found in the book.

Wyschnegradsky (that's how we spell it on the Newport Classic Premier
recording) actually had French ancestry according to his son, Dimitri Vichney.
Dimitri, a blues fan, told me that it is only natural for his father to exile
to Paris.

[Reinhard:]
> Wyschnegradsky

Ivor, in his translation of W.'s "Manual of
Quartertone Harmony", made it a point to discuss
briefly the many various spellings of his name,
and sharpened that point by including, hand-written,
the Russian spelling (which I can't reproduce here).
