Re: Jacky Ligon's high prime JI tuning

Hello, there, and I would like strongly to express my own view that
Jacky Ligon's scale using some beautiful ratios of 23 and 37 is indeed
just intonation as I define it: a system of tuning based on integer
ratios.

While Jacky has emphasized the melodic qualities of these intervals, I
would add that many of his choices have what look to me like they have
very beautiful vertical applications also.

The dialogue we have seen here from many able contributors has
convinced me, at least, that the term "JI" has such different
associations and premises for different people that the best we can do
is to acknowledge and indeed cherish this diversity.

Most respectfully,

Margo Schulter

This is how I feel about the term "microtonal."

Ok, fair enough in both cases. For the sake of clear communication,
could we perhaps come up with modifiers ("Keenen JI"? "High-limit JI"?)
to help people who want to use either term with a particular meaning?
And Monz, could you perhaps split out definitions in your dictionary to
reflect this diversity of opinion?
