The Thesaurus musicarum italicarum (TMI) has been expanded recently:
http://www.euromusicology.org/tmiweb/tmiweb.htm
Now it's possible to read Nicola Vicentino's _L'antica musica_ online!
Among other things (Aaron, Zarlino ..) Only wished my Italian was better.
Read the project information too, it's interesting and high quality work.

Thought it would be a good time to write of the recent Vicentino
performance on the past AFMM concert. We are presently awaiting a mastered digital
recording...any day now.

The intonation in the performance was good over all. I might wish
entrances to be "thinner" or less rich. A particular solo is heard quite
differently than I would have designed, for example. But the microtonal movement,
from a just intonation model of tuning, remained intact.

As soon as our video is wedded to the new mastered sound, I will release
the recording for viewing. Alas, we did not have the power of singers who
have devoted themselves to their voices, at 100%. Our soprano described the
performance as "soulful."

Anyone out there see the performance?

Here's the May 15, 2010 AFMM performance, as promised. Amazed we got as
far as we did.

If ensembles like The Clerk's Group, The Hilliard Ensemble, The Cardinall's Musick, or The Tallis Scholars want to show they are not wussies, they will record a Vicentino album. They can quote the previous sentence on the album cover if they like.
