quickie bar

So far I've placed THREE icons on my Netscape "quickie bar..." one
for egroups: "Tuning," one for egroups "newjustintonation" and one
for egroups "harmonic entropy."

Generally there are a few posts per hour on "Tuning."

There averages about 2 posts per WEEK (at most) on
"newjustintonation."

And, for "harmonic entropy,' so far there have been *NO* posts at
all, with the exception of my personal requests for "remedial math."

Hmmm. Isn't it GREAT that we're "divided up" like this???

Got a lotta spare time?

It gives people on this list a choice to subscribe to both.
Maybe Paul came down with a cold or forgot to type overnight...
Maybe some of the other people who were wrapped up in the
thread suddenly couldn't care less.

At least this list become a bit more interesting.

For those of you who have email filters, you can
route all your tuning related email in to the same folder
so it psychologically appears to be all one list.

Yesterday, I worked until 2:15, played with my band on the street in Harvard
Square until 8, saw Gong (Daevid Allen's gliss guitar and Gilli Smyth's
vocals can get quite non-12tET) at the House of Blues at 10, and didn't even
get a chance to work on my 22-tET music. Looking at the harmonic_entropy
list, I see that overnight, the membership has increased from 6 to 18, and
there are 12 messages so far. Today I replied to Carl's tuning@egroups.com
message about h.e. on the other list. I think we're off to a good start,
though I'm probably not going to be able to put serious time into the new
calculations until after the Microthon . . .

Anyway, I think splitting the list was a good idea. Maybe there should be a
lattice list too (remember all those lattices a while back)? As long as
there are a few people on all the lists, so that they can refer questions
from one to another, this should keep the volume more manageable. I came in
to the office on Monday with 290 new e-mails to read. I diligently went
through every one of them, but if I had a project due for work, I would have
had to do some serious skimming. I can understand that many people would be
frustrated in an attempt to follow everything going on, so being able to
narrow down one's field of interest seems very valuable.

Anyway, no more posting about posting, OK?
