I was just reading one of Brian Mclaren's old posts on Kornerup and he said
that "the real contribution of Kornerup's Golden Section scale is that it
is the first recorded example of a self-similar non-just non-equal-tempered
tuning." What the heck does he think meantone tuning is? What exactly does
"self similar" mean? Say I was studying the tuning of some particular
gamelan and I thought to ask myself, is this tuning self-similar? How
would I answer that question?
Sorry, this isn't the actual reason why I'm posting: I'm looking for a
reference to Kornerup's golden section scale. His "musical acoustics"
contains nary a mention of it. Anyone know of any published material about it?

The book about his "Goldene Tonsystem" is in the
bibliography. As it contains almost 4000 references
it's a good starting point to look for a reference.
http://www.xs4all.nl/~huygensf/doc/bib.html
The scale "kornerup.scl" is in the scale archive,
with whole tone/half tone ratio equal to the golden section.
I have moved the scale archive since Mills is out of
order and their webmaster didn't respond to my e-mail.
Go to http://www.xs4all.nl/~huygensf/english/literature.html
for the link.
