Well, it seems as though some folks would just rather not be here! I
have several microtonally inclined friends whom I have repeatedly
tried to get to climb abroad the tuning list bandwagon only to be
spurned time and time again...

Why? No one reason really, but something an awful lot like Jeff's
"timidity and geekery" syndrome is often cited; where those coming
from something like a "music first, theory never" orientation would
rather not appear as though they don't know what they're talking about
on a daily basis in the company a pedagogic review board where "music"
is often a tuning taken for a test drive well within the speed limit!

Another commonly voiced concern is the "microtonal junkie" syndrome;
here endless hours recede into history while you hunch and squint into
an endless electronic stream of ASCII stocked with cryptic insider
terminology and often daunting math, and the whole affair is about as
benign as a crack addiction! (Well, it is kinda hard to argue with
that one -- anyone remember Dave Keenan?)

Me, I learn a lot and think it's great (if somewhat time consuming).

Well, I've heard the "time consuming" one before... but people can
spend as much or as little time as they like here. So far, I haven't
heard of anybody being physically "shackled" to the Tuning List?? Or
have they been???
