OK -- with the most informationless prior about how it's going to be used,
one finds that tempering it is best. Think of it as the problem of tuning a
set of harmonic-series-timbre windchimes, or a keyboard that a monkey or
serialist composer is going to play . . .

HA!... Thanks, Paul - you just inspired my next piece!
'Duet for Monkey and Serialist Composer'!

(Boy, imagine the theatrical possibilities for that one!
Johnny, sign me up for the next AFMM!!!)

Now I have good reason to look back over your scale-lists!

This really was a "good one" Paul, and I liked it even better on the
"reread." Remember they used to say that EVENTUALLY a room of
monkeys would randomly type the entire works of Shakespeare, if given
enough time?? Well, in the same manner, some second-rate serialist
composers will eventually come up with a good piece of music, if
given enough time.

My sincerest apologies to Milton (Babbitt), George Perle and other
REAL serial composers if they happen to be reading this. Fortunately,
that possibility is minuscule...
