hey Joe,

you might be surprised to find out that the earthly home
of Sun Ra was on Morton Street in Germantown (Philadelphia),
just a few blocks from where i used to live.

even tho he was from Saturn and was pretty far "out there",
he was still a part of the African-American jazz tradition,
and so Detroit is not at all surprising to me as a venue for
his work.

concert, as I recall, and probably one of the very first times I had
been to a jazz club.
