Hi...

I would like to correspond with anyone seriously into 31 ET - instruments made, scales, etc. - basically anything anybody's willing to share about what they're doing with it. I've been working on some ideas, but have nothing concrete to offer as yet.

Thanks,

Robin Perry

Really?! Do you remember what it was, or the name of that thread?

Well, here are some random scale notes i made when exploring a triangular lattice:

C# E A# C

A# B C F# G

B D- D# E# F# A- A#

F# G Ab D Eb

C D- E G- G A#

C C# Eb/E F# G A#

C D# E F# G A#

G A# B D D# E# F#

C D# E F# G A# B

C C# Eb E Ab A (Cb)C

C D D# E# G (G#) A# (B#)

D E+ F G+ A Cb (C/C+/C#)

The lattice was drawn with this QBasic program, made by me.(rename the file to .BAS to run it)
http://www.angelfire.com/mo/oljare/lattice.txt

In fact ive planned to promote 31-tet as a more or less informal"standard"alternative tuning system, and i got some sketches for a full orchestra piece. Finally, ive completed two midi files:

http://www.angelfire.com/mo/oljare/lepers.mid
http://www.angelfire.com/mo/oljare/eppel.mid

The former uses the Genus Bichromaticum 12-note set,the later is mostly major with a few 7-limit intervals.

Have a good time, there is certainly a lot to explore in 31-tet,including a lot of 12-tone harmony which can be rendered in meantone.

I wrote a message promoting 31-tET as the "standard" alternative
tuning system a few months ago. Though 22-tET may be more interesting
in some respects, it does not support ordinary Western triadic
diatonic music, while 31-tET does.

Dave's put up a page on his algorithm:
