A new(old?)17-tet scale

Ive been interested in scales constructed by a single"generator"for a long time, mostly as a subset of ETs,but i just recently started noticing the occurence of MOS. Since i considered acceptable fifths to be essential in any scale, my first idea was to divide the fifth in 24-tet by two-upwards,using the neutral third,or from the top using the note between A and Bb.However,i've discovered this scale in 17-tet gives a more convincing version of the neutral third scale.I do not know if this scale has been used before.

3 2 2 3 2 3 2
C D E F G A B

Having seven notes in its basic MOS,it also fits the diatonic note naming system well.Instead of a cycle of fiths,we have a cycle of neutral thirds(where two steps equal a fifth)

F A C E G B D

The D-F should not be thought of as a"wolf third",but rather as having the same function as B-F in the fifth based diatonic scale. The complete 17-tone cycle of thirds looks like this:

Ab Cb Eb Gb Bb Db F A C E G B D F# A# C# D# G#/Ab

Or in a piano-like arrangment:

C# Db Eb E# F# Gb Ab A# Bb Cb
C D E F G A B C

That is all i have for now on it.I will finish a simple MIDI composition in this scale(or tonal system)soon. There is also the way of dividing the fifth by the A/Bb note, which works in 19tet and then corresponds to Yassers hexad, but thats another story.

Also, ive finished this Qbasic program that draws a simple 31-tet triangular lattice.Thats all it does, but it could be modified easily.

(rename it to .BAS to run it)

I didnt realize this was about neutral thirds when i first read it.Here is a piece i did in 17tet that uses some other scales.
