Congratulations on hanging out on this list and participating as an equal.
I'm extremely impressed with your intelligence and knowledge. I think we now
have very good reason to challenge egroups' "Over 17" rating of this list!!!

I don't know about open questions, but why not try a psychological test
(double-blind of course) of people's consonance judgments of various
intervals.

Keenan, if you're interested in pursuing the "tuning taste test", I happen to still have around the CD of samples my son and I made. It contains several different tunings (incluing 19 tET and diatonic JI) of one phrase from the Bach 4-part chorale harmonization of "Ein Feste Burg"; all played in the same timbre, timing, etc... The JI and 19 tET tunings are my own setups; the others are 12tET, 1/4 comma meantone, and some others from the standard Yamaha TX802 set of tunings (Kirnberger, etc). I also threw in a 13 tET for grins...

Right Keenan,
if you were german I would lead you to this page with some basic
demonstrations on the subject:
Wolfgang Martin Stroh:"Musikalische Grenzerfahrungen durch Midifiles?"
on
http://www.uni-oldenburg.de/musik/publikat.html
or a gamelan project on
http://www.uni-oldenburg.de/musik/gamelan/gamindex.html

This is my "Hello" to the tuning list.
Im a music-teacher and would like to get informed about what finally
happened in the classroom, Keenan.
Thank you
