question for mclaren

I had a question for Brian McLaren regarding his overall view of the
size of scale steps in xenharmonic composition.

After working with various scales, it seemed to me that one of the
*most* significant aspects of a scale was the general or overall size
of the scale steps, particularly in an ET.

This opinion was immediately debunked on our companion "wonk" list...
since, of course, certain ETs have such superior just harmonies over
others but, still, I felt that the overall scale step size was
perhaps an even *more* important quality of a scale than its
harmonic "purity."

If you get a chance, Brian, could you please comment on this matter?
I know that with your incredible experience in composing in virtually
every tuning known and unknown to man you would have some opinion on
the subject...

Thanks!
