The 34-tone equal temperament scale

I thought I'd found a new equal-temperament scale when, on October 17, 1996, I discovered that selected powers of the 34th root of 2 provide a very nice approximation to the 12 tones of the just-intonation chromatic scale. But recently I've seen a few references to the 34-tone equal-temperament scale on various websites.... though none with much historical background. Can anyone in the tuning group give me some clues about where to look for the history - particularly the mathematical theory - of the 34-ET scale? Thanks, S. H. Cullinane.
