Speaking of TX81Z patches... I'd like to find a good patch source...

How are these patches stored? Are they just MIDI files that you can send to the synth via some command, like the "send" command in Scala? Or something else?

I have Syquest's librarian program, but there doesn't seem to be any source of TX81z patches in that format...

What is the "SYSEX format" that people talk about; is that a Cakewalk specific format or something?

Thanks,
Rick

O Sri Swifty: Well, I guess I would like these patches, especially if there are alien voices among them... I'd also like to hear about other TX81Z patches that people have... (Web search turned up nothing interest that I had time to wade through...)

But I don't have Cakewalk, so my big question is still whether there is some "freebie" software that can download the patches in that format to the 'Z' through regular MIDI "play" or whatever... Anyone have experience with these?

Thanks,
Rick
