I'm back

Hey listers. Just got back from GB, where I met up with Graham Breed and
Robert Walker. Had dinner with Graham and played some of his instruments.
The tuning of the meantone guitar was especially interesting. A lot of
cool sounding intervals. Had dinner with Robert Walker and talked about
his Fractal Tune Smithy, which makes fractal music with microtonal scales.
I know many of you have heard Hans-Andre Stamm's enharmonic organ, but if
you missed it, see it at
http://www.eufonia.de/enharmfr.htm
and hear it at
http://www.eufonia.de/enhcompe.htm
Just a short note before I wade into all the back issues. Ciao.

I'm glad you brought it up, John. All listers would be well advised to
visit Hans-Andre's page, listen carefully to his collection of mp3s, and
read his articles "Enharmonic Composition", "The Enharmonic Pipe Organ",
and "Thoughts on Composition".

The links above take me to the French versions, however. English
speaking listers are advised to visit the homepage, and find the
English versions from there...

Great to see you after such a long period of silence. What about your qanun?

It's nice to be back indeed.

It's right here in my apartment, tuned to 79 MOS 159-tET as usual. I
have, in the meanwhile, ventured to discover lower-resolution maqam
tunings without sacrificing too much detail.

Have you taken a look at my updated webpage? Under Fikirler
(Turkish:Ideas) you may find a lenghty explanation (unfortunately in
Turkish, but fortunately with videos) of a new 36-tone maqam tuning I
call Yarman-36. It is a three-layered 12-tone 1/8 comma Modified
Meantone constructed by calibrating fifth beat rates.

Welcome back, brother. I'm still in lurk mode with the occasional random nonsense post, but I try to keep up. ~D.

Ozan,

Great to have you back. What have you been up to? The list has been somewhat dull in recent times.
Best,
Aaron

Hi Charles!

I was trying to get organized this summer for academic and music-
related endeavours. What have you been up to?

The feeling is mutual AKJ. As I have been telling Charles, music-
related academic projects are the order of the day.

Now that I am back, maybe we shall polish and shine this group a little!

Dear brother Danny, nice to see you here!

Keep in touch.

Oz.

P.S. Due to a mail delivery error, I had to quit and rejoin the group.
