Let us remember that Barbour was quite against any non 12-ET tuning. Check out his uninformed critique of Harry Partch. It is a shame he ruins his book with all that graffiti of deviation for 12 ET as if that means something. It doesn't

Kraig:

I am not sure what you mean by "graffiti"? He does not give deviation
from ET. He does state the cent value of each note of the scale (from
this you could determine the deviation if you want). I would say that is
useful information.

Before you condemn Barbour, he comes from an age were ET was the standard
that had been adopted before the time of his birth. There was a lot of
hype about the advantages of ET at the time of its adoption. In his
research he probably came across a lot of this. Barbour had never heard
any thing but ET tell after the book was written. Owen Jorgensen showed
him that there was a difference in the sound of the tunings. That was
the first time Barbour heard difference, he would have written his book
differently had he knew.
